On July 25, 1944, after seven months of military service, Richard’s father LeRoy Pryor was discharged from the Army under Section 8: “Ineptness, lack of adaptability for the military service, habits and traits of character which render his retention in the service undesirable”.
This document is Pryor’s final payment roll from Fort Devens, Massachusetts, and gives one fascinating clue to what happened to Pryor in the Army: he lost ten days of pay for an infraction which went unspecified.
Unfortunately, the full military record was lost in a fire, and it may not be possible to determine in any greater detail the story of LeRoy Pryor’s time in the service.
