Perhaps because of the pressure of performing for his\u00a0family and his former mentor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.becomingrichardpryor.com\/pryors-peoria\/people\/juliette-whittaker\/\">Juliette Whittaker<\/a>\u2014hardly the same constituency who were filling out his audience at clubs like Maverick&#8217;s Flat and the Redd Foxx Club in LA\u2014he performed a quite abbreviated set.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, the article conveys a few choice details about the independent\u00a0film that Pryor was, at that moment in 1969, attempting to pull together.
