Margaret “China Bee” Parker ran Peoria’s most well-known black brothel. Along with Harold Parker (to whom she was married until 1959), she was known for running a “classier” establishment that catered to any and all of its clientele’s desires. The Parkers were the power couple of Peoria’s black underground and, for a time at least, relatively untouchable by the law.<\/p>\n
