On July 25, 1944, after seven months of military service, Richard’s father LeRoy Pryor was discharged from the Army under Section 8: “Ineptness, lack of adaptability for the military service, habits and traits of character which render his retention in the service undesirable”.<\/p>\n
This document is Pryor’s final payment roll from Fort Devens, Massachusetts, and gives one fascinating clue to what happened to Pryor in the Army: he lost ten days of pay for an infraction which went unspecified.<\/p>\n
