The story of a <a title=\"Family Affairs\" href=\"http:\/\/www.becomingrichardpryor.com\/pryors-peoria\/archive\/topics\/family-affairs\/\">family<\/a>\u00a0whose family business was a brothel.\u00a0The story of a <a title=\"Richard Pryor\" href=\"http:\/\/www.becomingrichardpryor.com\/pryors-peoria\/archive\/people\/richard-pryor\/\">black child<\/a> floating through largely white <a title=\"Schooled\" href=\"http:\/\/www.becomingrichardpryor.com\/pryors-peoria\/archive\/theme\/schooled\/\">schools<\/a>, then finding his home at a black\u00a0<a title=\"The Carver Center\" href=\"http:\/\/www.becomingrichardpryor.com\/pryors-peoria\/archive\/view-archive-by-place\/the-carver-center\/\">community center<\/a>.\u00a0The story of <a title=\"Sin City\" href=\"http:\/\/www.becomingrichardpryor.com\/pryors-peoria\/archive\/theme\/sin-city\/\">organized vice<\/a>\u00a0and the <a title=\"Reform This Town!\" href=\"http:\/\/www.becomingrichardpryor.com\/pryors-peoria\/archive\/theme\/reform-this-town\/\">reformers<\/a> who tried to stamp it out.\u00a0The story of Midwestern <a title=\"Segregation and Desegregation\" href=\"http:\/\/www.becomingrichardpryor.com\/pryors-peoria\/archive\/theme\/segregation\/\">segregation<\/a> and those who battled to dismantle it.<\/p>\n<p>Pryor eventually left Peoria and became one of America&#8217;s greatest comedians and social critics.
